The route of abortion and fatherless babies in campus have always hit high number margins ever since. Most men are fond of denying to own up and taking up the responsibility of the pregnancies they disseminate in campus.

However, it’s the way ladies rely pregnancy messages to guys that is scaring to men and also intimidates them. There is need to realize that most of these who call themselves men in campus are still ‘daddy’s’ or ‘mama’s’, boy they haven’t yet imagined of Fathering a child especially while still in campus. Even if the guy is a masculine bouncer who scares away interrupters every time there is the famous campus night parties ‘kadunda’, it doesn’t mean that he is strong enough to also handle that scary message. Even that good guy who is always considered as a responsible guy can easily vanish or disown that lady depending on the way the lady rely to him that pregnancy message.

Most ladies upon realizing that she has missed that she has missed her periods or has started vomiting, the next option is to inform the guy whom identifiably she’s sure that he is the one responsible. The big question is, ‘how do you inform the man on such a matter? ’ . One thing ladies must realize is that the way you rely the message to the guy determines the response immediately. Some of the messages men fear most are: We need to talk, my periods have stopped, I need to see you urgently, there is something I need to tell you and we need to see the doctor.

When campus guys receive this, the ladies will likely receive harsh and very rude response from the guy. Some of the responses include; so what, are you trying to set me up and go find your child’s father. Most men don’t usually mean it but their reaction is mainly due to the immediate frustrations that suddenly dawns on their mind when they receive such messages.

NO POWER ON THE SATURDAY OF 28TH FEB

Following the blowing of the transformer at C houses a couple of days ago,the KPLC men in blue were seen fixing the transformer. In order to fully solve the problem of frequent blackouts at C houses, KPLC has put a notice at the Administration block notify students and the residents who dwell around the University that there will be no power on the Saturday of 28th FEB .

A hostel maintenance at C houses explained that an overload on the electrical system of the school was the main cause of the transformer blowing. The big question is,'Does this mean it's the end of blackouts in the University and especially in C houses'

WHO ACTUALLY WAS 'MASHOKA'!

Do you remember the infamous Peter Mashoka of 2011? This name is not new. For those who don't have an idea who this guy was, he is a guy who was used to attacking comrades using an axe leaving the victim for the dead.

What has never come to light is who Mashoka was, despite all the investigations and ghost vigilantes groups formed to reveal who this 'killer incognito'. It is believed that the 'Mashoka thing' was an inside job. He was one of the 'men in green'. That made his  arresting a nightmare. It's believed that he used to receive instructions from  the Chief security officer then Major.

Mashoka's atrocities provided Major with a justification to why many security men needed to be employed. The unsuspecting VC, as always gave a nod to this in his quest to see Mashoka arrested. Major consequently brought all his  villagemates to Moi  and hundreds of 'green men' got jobs. The Mashoka attacks subsquently came to a halt.

This is how selfish interests made the students victims, some escaping death by a whisker. Others still bearing marks on their bodies, a stark reminder of their  painful ordeals.

LIFE IN EARLY WEEKS OF A SEMESTER

Life on campus has a predictable trajectory. Some liken the behavior of students to that of a moth:wherever there is light, whatever the source, the moth will go after it. This behavior is perhaps best captured by relationships between the sexes, with the light being represented by the availability of money.

The first semester of an academic year is always filled with mixed fortunes for different students. While continuing students are faced with anxieties of possible supplimentaries ( sups) the newcomers are filled with pride, Nothing as it would seem can go wrong. They have finally made it to the highest academic institution in the land.

However,its not all gloom for the continuing students because a new semester also marks the arrival of new students. To the old students this means a fresh supply of boyfriends and girlfriends. At this take off stage, life is rife with intrigue, suspense and drama as the students sharpen their seduction skills. The creative content of TV commercials comes in handy. Terms in use at the time come into wide currency like ponyoka na fresher, making life fresher and freshers the pride of campus. The arrival of new students thus adds spice to the semester.

The wallets and purses are bursting at the seams with HELB  loan and money from  parents and relatives. With or without the spice of the freshers, the first four of five weeks of the semester could be described as heavenly for many a pleasure seeker. Everything is cool especially for those who have passed all their examinations. In the chips cafes,eyes are fixed on dishes like chicken, smokies ,fries and kebabs without remembering that a time will come when they will start spending a lot of time trying to budget for the cheapest meals.

Come Fridays, popularly known as ' members day', majority of students troop to a nearby entertainment joint commonly known as 'F2'. The seriously moneyed will hire a car and, with their lovers, drive to exclusive bars in Eldoret town where they will rub shoulders with the town's prominent people.

GOOD PROGRESS FOR ‘FIELD MARSHALLS’

The Moi university ‘Field Marshalls’ took part in the Kisii University open tournament earlier on in the semester in a two day tournament which drew 16 football teams from across the country. The Field Marshalls were drawn in group C alongside U.S.I.U and Cardinal Otunga High School.

Moi University beat U.S.I.U 1-0 in a closely contested first group match. The ‘Field Marshalls’ took an early lead in the 2^nd minute after they were awarded a free-kick. Ologi stepped up to take a superb free-kick that beat the wall and the goalkeeper to hit the back of the net. In the second match, the marshalls closely edged out Cardinal Otunga 1-0 as they took the lead in the 35^th minute courtesy of a goal by Pius. After a couple of good passes, he received the ball inside the box and took a brilliant shot that sailed past the keeper.

The two victories earned the Marshalls top spot in group C and also enabled them to sail to the quarter finals. In the quarter finals they were pitted against Town Rangers. They succumbed to defeat to defeat narrowly being edged out 8-7 on penalties after both teams were still level after extra time.

The tournament marked an improvement for the ‘Field Marshalls’ in comparison to the previous tournament they participated in where they went out at the Group stage. Things can only get better. March on ‘Field Marshalls.’
